Savanna Portage State Park - Savanna Portage State Park, 15,818 acres (64 km²) of hills, lakes, and bogs located 17 miles (27 km) north and east of McGregor, Minnesota, was established as a Minnesota state park in 1961 to preserve the historic Savanna Portage, a difficult six-mile trail connecting the West Savanna River and upper Mississippi River with the East Savanna River, St. Louis River, and Lake Superior.
